How to hang 40kg TV without damaging feature wall?

a21afc7a-112a-4083-a31d-cf6ccd5a099d.jpg

This is my feature wall, its 90x45mm verticals. i would like to attach my TV on this but without any damage to it

My idea is 2x  Vertical posts which are held against the feature wall with horizontal wood on the back and the TV bracket at the front. My question is what sized timber do i need as Bunnings doesn't sell 4x2 (90x42) on thier web site and i need 1800mm high?

The total weight is 40kg. So what thickness of wood do i need?

Re: How to hang 40kg TV without damaging feature wall?

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community @kiwigunner. It's great to have you join us, and many thanks for your question about mounting a TV.

4 x 2 in Australia and NZ is milled to 90 x 45mm. You'll find 90 x 45mm SG8 H1.2 KD Treated Radiata Timber Framing - 6m. The 6m length would need to be cut down to suit your 1800mm high increment.

Provided you secure this structure together sufficiently, then the 45mm thick timber would be adequate.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

All worked out great. Took 20mins to put together and bunnings helped by cutting the wood

Thanks again

Re: How to hang 40kg TV without damaging feature wall?

Hello @kiwigunner

Thank you very much for the update. That TV mount looks excellent; It took me moment to realize that the TV mount was mounted onto another timber piece and not your feature wall. For extra safety, I suggest installing a horizontal piece on the other side of the stand to prevent it from tilting out.

If you need further assistance, please let us know.

If anyone else does this

Please add a lower front brace! Tv slipped but we were lucky to catch it

Re: How to hang 40kg TV without damaging feature wall?

Hello @kiwigunner

Thank you for that extra information in regards to your TV mount. It's good to know that you managed to catch your TV before any mishap occurred. That extra timber piece at the bottom should hold the other pieces steady and prevent the timber frame from swinging out.
