Hello all,
I have started my very first DIY project which consist in sanding some old timber window frames to use as a picture frame.
I have done the sanding and it turned out great, now given that i don't really own power tools, i need to know how to hang the heavy (10 kilos approx) frame onto my drywall.
Thanks for your guide
Milo
Hello @Milo75
Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community. It's sensational to have you join us, and thanks for sharing your question about how to hang a heavy picture frame.
In order to give our members a better idea of the size and shape of the frame along with how thick the timber is, would it be possible for you to post a picture of the frame itself. Once we see it, we'll be able to offer recommendations on how to hang it.
However, just to give you a few ideas on how to hang a heavy picture frame, I often suggest using Ramset Super Wallmate Toggle Anchor - 10 Pack. This has an anchor that drops behind the plaster wall to provide a positive hold. Then there is the Ramset 6 x 38mm Universal Anchor - 6 Pack combined with the Everhang 20kg Heavy Duty Solid Wall Picture Hanging Hooks - 12 Pack. These screws are designed to be used on all substrates and the hooks are capable of holding 10Kgs. I also recommend using Everhang 15kg Zinc Plated Heavy Duty D Ring - 4 Pack to be used at the back of the frame.
Once we see your picture frame, we'll be able to offer you a more tailored recommendation. I also suggest having a look at this discussion - Solved: How to hang a 13kg mirror? by @ccyounger.
I also suggest having a quick look at this guide: How to hang just about anything by @Adam_W.

Thanks so much for you reply!
Attached is a photo of the frame. Actually it is not as heavy as I had thought at first. Maybe 5 or 6 kilos.
Hello @Milo75
Thank you for sharing a photo of the window frame. I suggest using Ramset Super Wallmate Toggle Anchor - 10 Pack in combination with the Everhang 15kg Zinc Plated Heavy Duty D Ring - 4 Pack. I suggest a minimum of two D Rings per frame, one on each side.
If you need further assistance, please let us know.
