How to install Floor select hybrid 6mm blackbutt hybrid boards?

Hi Guys, I am installing floor select hybrid 6mm blackbutt hybrid boards into my living area.

I understand they are floating so I need to leave a expansion gaps around the perimiter of the boards.

For the entrance door, I will have the boards ENDS against the jam.

Do I need to use a transition strip (like a Roberts silver floating floor perimeter trim or Quad) or can I butt the board ends against the jam to achieve a clean finish?

thanks in advance.

Re: Floor select hybrid 6mm blackbutt hybrid boards install

Hi @kouta,

That area would be considered part of the perimeter and requires the same expansion gap as the rest of the walls. The boards can't be hard up against any structure. It would be best to allow the required gap and use a transition strip over the area.

I'm sorry, but I don't have access to the installation guide for Floorselect hybrid flooring at the moment. Do the instructions suggest you do not need a gap at the ends of the boards? I'm under the impression that the expansion gap is required around the entire room.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Mitchell
