Hi all,
We have put the tv screen in the front of a window that we hardly ever use.
would like to utilise this space.
do you gave any suggestions comments please?
Hi @jowens,
It sounds like you are hoping to mount the TV across an elevated window, and to do that safely you would first need a solid structure behind the screen to carry the load. That means installing structural timber across the span of the window and tying those timbers securely into the wall framework on both sides. It is a fairly involved job because you cannot rely on the window frame itself to support a mounting bracket.
A simpler and much more conventional option would be to place the TV on an entertainment cabinet in front of the window rather than fixing it to the wall. This avoids structural work, keeps the window intact and still lets you use that space effectively. If you are set on mounting it, we have a helpful guide on creating a freestanding TV mount: How to build a TV cabinet with wall mount. You can position in front of the window without modifying the wall. That approach lets you achieve the same look while avoiding the complexity of reinforcing the area behind the TV.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
