I have 11-12kg approx chandelier which j want to mount on ceiling. I am bit worried about the weight and whether the ceiling can take the weight or not.
The ceiling is same as most houses has in Australia. Attached are some images.
please advise what could be the best approach to do this. Thanks.
Hello @vishal88
Your ceiling frame has been designed to carry the weight of your plasterboard, light fixings and insulation. Anything more than that will compromise its structure and it will start to sag. In order to properly and safely anchor your chandelier on the ceiling, I suggest engaging the services of a builder. They will be able to structurally reinforce the ceiling frame where your chandelier will be hanging. Hanging it now with no extra support could damage the ceiling frame and drag it down. It would be best to have it done professionally so that it is done correctly and is covered under the builder's warranty.
