How to make curtain cords kidsafe?

We have old curtains with cords that hang down to the floor. They are not attached to the wall they just have weights at the end.

We want to make them more child safe. I’ve got these anchors sent from the government.

I’m thinking to cut the cord so it is half the length, then rejoin it together and affix to the wall with those anchors. Wondering what is the best way to rejoin the ends? I could just tie them but won’t look nice and might have issues sliding

Hi @DonC,

Thank you for your question about how to cut and rejoin blind cords.

Having a think about a blind cord and how ropes are made, logic would say that there is already a join somewhere. I can't see it being one continuous loop with no join.

Can you have a look if there is a join anywhere in the cord currently?

If you can find one, emulating their method would likely be the best option.

I suppose you could use these Zenith 6mm Zinc Plated Rope Splice Clips, but they would need to be joined in a very visible spot where they won't run into the blind hardware.

Thanks @JacobZ, I had a closer look and I can see the cords are joined by being tied at the top, onto the metal part that slides along the rail. So best way would be to take it all off, cut the length then retie it. Just a bit more work and I have to hope I can manage to put it all back together in a working way!
