Hi my daughter has this pink bookshelf and now she id a bit older she would love to change the colour and its looking a bit old and worn...how do I do this? Do I need to sand, prep, undercoat, paint, top coat? Or am I better off wrapping straight over the top? Or spray paint etc?
Hi @sedel2007,
A warm welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community, it is fantastic to have you with us.
As the bookcases' existing paint looks to be in fair condition, and paint will stick well to other paint, it should be relatively easy to paint over it with a new colour. There's no need to remove the old paint, just clean and scuff it up a bit.
I would simply clean it with sugar soap, give it a very light sand with some 180 Grit Sandpaper, brush it down to remove any sawdust and then paint over it with 2 coats of an enamel paint.
You can use a paint roller for the majority of the surfaces and a high-quality sash cutter brush for the internal corners and intricate areas.
Let me know what you think and if you have further questions, please don't hesitate to ask.
