There is a dent on the door, what filler should I use?
On the corner of the door, the paint is coming off, can I repaint the whole door to another colour? Like white?
Do I need to remove the old paint or I can just paint on top of the existing color.
Hi @lukelee,
You can use the same Less Mess Topping Compound and 75mm Joint Knife I recommended in your other post.
Start by giving the dent a quick scrape to remove any raised edges, then give it a light sand with your sanding sponge. Once tidied up, apply a small amount of the topping compound to fill the hole, allow it to dry, then sand it smooth with the sanding sponge.
To fix the damage to the bottom corner of the door, take the door off the hinges so you have good access to the bottom corner, then give it a light sanding to prepare the surface.
You can repaint the whole door to another colour, but you'll need to apply a primer to the bottom corner where there is no paint and over your topping compound patch. I'd suggest using Dulux 1Step Prep Primer, Sealer & Undercoat.
Allow the primer to dry for two hours before applying your choice of paint. I would recommend an enamel paint such as Dulux Aquanamel.
