How to replace smoke alarm?

hi my smoke alarm doesn't seem to work. I thought it was a battery problem but this one , i just can't seem to locate the battery.

It looks like a bit loose from its base(see 2nd pic) does anyone know what model this is?  Is this something i can replace myself

Please advice

Re: Smoke alarm

Hi @bm,

You might like to check out How To Change A Smoke Alarm Battery for some guidance.

I believe next to the arrow it says "slide to remove".

Try pulling the smoke alarm that way. It should pull out of a bracket, which would then reveal the battery.

You can change the battery yourself, but it would be worth checking the regulations in your area regarding smoke alarms.

There have been recent changes in some jurisdictions that require older smoke alarms to be replaced with interconnected photoelectric smoke alarms. Looking at the age of your smoke alarm, it would likely be worth considering speaking with a smoke alarm specialist about an upgrade.

Let me know if you have any further questions.

Re: Smoke alarm

Hi @bm,

Without even thinking about it that should be tossed in the bin and a new one installed - play safe.

Replacing that is quite straightforward and hopefully there is someone in your circle that can do the job.

If not as @JacobZ advised get someone in to install the new one.

Cheers
