Hi everyone,
I’m new to DIY and haven’t really done much before — my tools are pretty basic too.
I’d like to make my built-in wardrobe more practical. I’m thinking about removing the vertical divider in the middle so I can add drawers up to waist height and shelves above.
Has anyone done this before? Is it difficult to take out that centre panel?
Since I’m not very confident with building, I’m also considering just buying a flat-pack from Bunnings and installing that instead.
Hello @Gambii
Generally speaking, if you were to remove your existing shelves it might be possible to install drawer cabinets in the space. But a great deal of it will depend on the space available.
If you have the necessary tools such as a saw, drill, measuring tape and drill bits. You should be able to make and assemble drawers for the space that you have. I suggest having a look at this guide - How to add drawers to a kitchen cabinet. The steps illustrated in the guide are applicable to your proposed project.
