How to seal concrete floor?

I am in the process of having 40m of slate removed from the downstairs of my house.  What could I use to seal the concrete until I can decide what flooring to replace it with?

Alternatively, can I use self-adhesive vinyl planks over the bare concrete?

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community, it is wonderful to have you with us.

As long as the concrete surface is clean and any adhesive has been ground back or removed, you could apply a concrete sealer as a temporary solution. I'd suggest using Dunlop Natural Look Sealer, which is a low-cost, penetrative sealer that can be used on a variety of surfaces, including concrete.

While self-adhesive vinyl planks can go over bare concrete, they struggle to stick to unsealed concrete, so applying your sealer beforehand would certainly be worthwhile.
