Hi,
I have cleaned the bricks many times and was wondering if it looks ready to use Sealer.
Good Afternoon @Fatboy
I wonder if you could provide a few more photos of the bricks? They do look clean but at the same time the mortar still looks a little crumbly. How did you clean them?
I would use a wire brush at least.
A wire wheel for a powered drill on slow would also work to remove the gritty stuff.

Hello @Fatboy
Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community. It's sensational to have you join us, and thanks for sharing your question about sealing your brick wall.
Can you please provide us with a little bit more information regarding your brick wall. Are you getting condensation problems on its surface? Is there a water leak? Has there been any significant movement in its assembly? I'm in agreement with @Dave-1 in regards to the condition of the mortar fillers. It needs repointing to cover up the large gaps in the brick work. Can you also please tell us what type of sealer did you have in mind?
If you have any other questions we can help with, please let us know.
Eric
Thank you for getting back to me Dave,
I did use a wire brush with water. I will try and clean it more to get rid of the crumbly areas.
I was thinking of using crommelin 4litre water based Brick and render sealer - what are your thoughts ?
Hi @Fatboy,
Hopefully, @Dave-1 gets back to us. Just wanted to clarify that the Crommelin 4L Water Based Brick And Render Sealer is a suitable product. Ensure you have plenty of ventilation, follow the application and preparation instructions, and be aware that it may take a bit longer to dry, as it is indoors.

Afternoon @Fatboy
I would even go a little rougher to remove the crumbling parts with a wire brush for a powered drill (over a battery drill as they dont seem to have the same torque/strength I have found) I usually do the wire brush and then go mmmmm and then go for a stronger option. Ive always been happier with the stronger option ![]()
As to the sealer. I havnt used any particular ones, so I would go with @MitchellMc 's suggestion on that. I know the surface should be clean and free of debris is all. (When you body screams that its done, do a little more
you will thank yourself in the prep work for sure) I spent all Easter sanding, plastering and painting and I was very glad I had pushed through and given a little more effort to the prep work.
