How to transform my pine table into a coastal vibe?

How to transform my pine table into a coastal vibe?

I’m upcycling my dining table and chairs. I’ve sanded them back to natural wood and it looks to be made of pine (see first two images of the up close wood). I want to transform these into a coastal vibe, light ashy colour same as the colour of the dining table in image 3.

What products do I need to use to get this colour ttransformation?

Thanks!’

Re: How to transform my pine table into a coastal vibe

Hi @Tiarnna,

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community, it is fabulous to have you with us.

I'd agree that your table and chairs appear to be made of pine, which gives us a good point to start from.

With this being said, I think the best course of action is for you to have a play around with the Cabots Step-by-Step Colour Guide to see what colours you like. Using pine as a base timber, the Cabot's Tint Base Water Based Interior Stain tinted to Marita Grey, looks close.

Feast Watson also have a Coastal section of their website which shows different product examples with different timbers. This is certainly worth a look.

Another option is to lime wash your furniture. Check out How to lime wash timber furniture for some guidance on this.

I think it will come down to a bit of trial and error as it is quite hard to colour match stains from photos, but the links I have provided should help.

Let me know what you think and if you have further questions, please feel free to ask.

Jacob
