Small coffee table with folding legs by a novice

Hi everyone,

I would like to make a standard small coffee table to hold a cuppa and laptop.

I'd like the legs to fold in for easy storage but also need them to click into place when set up so it doesn't fall over.

I'm just having trouble in choosing what's best to use/what to use.

I know I need brackets for the swing but what holds it in place?

Thanks

There's certainly lots of coffee table projects that have been shared by community members that you can get inspiration from. There's also a recent discussion about a folding table build kicked off by @Shagen that you might like to start with.

Re: Small coffee table with folding legs by a novice

Hi @Krhodes,

As Jason mentioned @Shagen's discussion on their folding table covers this topic quite extensively and has responses from some of our most knowledgable members within in it. I'd encourage you to have a read through.

I believe the most simplistic way to achieve what you are after is to have the legs splay outwards with an angular cut on the bottom of them. When legs splay outward generally the table will not fall over. If you wish to have the legs click into place I would suggest using a Prestige 240mm Zinc Plated Steel Card Table Stay or Prestige 131mm Lid Support Stay to lock them in position.

Please let me know if you need further information or had any questions.

Mitchell
