Upcycled antique (dining room piece?)

Upcycled antique (dining room piece?)

This was perhaps a cutlery/ silverware holder or cupboard. as it had old red felt lining.  I'm not sure I just liked its good bones and thought it was interesting.  It was in really bad condition ( see photos) but was solid.  Stripped, sanded, undercoated, three coats of matt black and new fabric linings which give it a pop when opened!  The detailed top was good enough to keep which adds some warmth and history to the end product

Re: Upcycled antique (dining room piece?)

Hi @Wendyjoyhall

I love the matt black finish on this piece that you've rescued. I totally agree it was probably some kind of display cabinet in the past. That colourful liner you've placed in really gives it that extra wow factor. I'm thinking this would be a good place to store memorabilia and items of sentimental value.

Thank you for sharing this beautiful upcycle project.

Eric
