What paint is best for this wardrobe internals?

Hi everyone,

We are planning to give these wardrobes a refresh and wanted to paint the insides of them white before refitting. Could you please help me with what would be the best process (sanding, priming etc.) and materials I would need to do this (specifically what type of paint would be best)?

We are planning to rip the current internals out and insert some drawer modules and hanger rails.

Thank you!

Re: What paint is best for this wardrobe internals?

Hi @audreyniah,

A warm welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community, and thank you for your question.

It looks like the cupboards have a timber veneer, which will be fairly easy to paint.

My advice on How to paint buffet and determine whether it is a veneer is much the same as what I would recommend to you.

Give it a once-over with some 120-grit sandpaper to remove any surface contaminants and lightly scuff the surface.

Once you have lightly sanded, give it a brush with a soft brush, then clean it with a soft cloth and some diluted sugar soap.

Once clean, coat your cupboard with a coat of Dulux PRECISION Maximum Strength Adhesion Primer, allow it to fully dry and then paint with 2-3 coats of Dulux Aquanamel in a colour and finish of your choice. Make sure you allow the paint to fully dry between coats.

Use a high-quality sash cutter brush to cut in around the corners, then use a foam roller to coat the rest.

This will give you a high-quality paint job that will modernise and beautify your wardrobe, ready for the new additions.

Let me know what you think, and if you have further questions, please don't hesitate to ask.

Jacob
