how to attach round dowel as table legs

I am building a tall desk to sit over my walking pad. I purchased 43mm wooden dowels to use as legs, they have no screws in them existing. The wood I have to use as the table top is only approx 2” thick. What would you suggest I use, mounting plates? Something else? I would love if there was a tube like fitting that went over the dowel to make it sturdy but I don’t know what that’s called so can’t find it!
