We transformed an old, cluttered outdoor area into a stylish, functional patio perfect for entertaining.
This space was so drab when we moved in, we started by removing the lattice work, gas bottles and clutter.
Next we started preparing the base for the crazy pave. Pulling up the old red bricks.
Next was some road base which was compacted.
Next was pouring the concrete and some new panelling on the wall. This was all done with recycled timber. The small statured site supervisor shouted orders from her thrown. 👑
Next was the crazy pave!
The concrete was primed, the tiles smashed using a hammer with a towel over the top. Tiles were then put out to get a good even mix of colours and sizes. This was pretty time consuming.
It was then time to go and pick up each tile and glue down with tile adhesive. When it came to grouting be sure to use a wide joint grout as there are larger gapes between crazy pave than a standard tile lay and this type of grout prevents cracking.
Seal.. and admire !
Lick of paint on the timber wall and *chefs kiss* !
We love this space. It has held up so well and made this area something we actually use and enjoy almost everyday !
Hi @marissa4,
Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community, it is wonderful to have you with us.
The before and after photos show a really dramatic difference in the personality of the space.
You've gone from a somewhat uninviting area with the old brick pavers to a vibrant, modern space with a fantastic, crazy-paved floor.
I'm so glad to hear that it is now an area that you use and enjoy almost every day.
I hope you are extremely proud of your project, because you certainly should be.
