Deck and tropical garden makeover

There was a very small and dangerous deck surrounded by stones when we bought a townhouse!  Our vision of a tropical oasis for entertainment started at Bunnings.  We built a deck that went around two sides with a gazebo, spa and tropical gardens!  We enjoyed our wedding and first Christmas in a beautiful environment!

Materials

Deck timber, joists, bearers, screws ect

Decking stain

Garden edge posts and timber

Soil and plants

Privacy fencing and spa

Spa Lay-z-spa and all products for the spa

Gazebo

Timber for barbecue tables and legs

ALL from Bunnings

Tools

Electric screwdrivers

Level

Paint brushes, rollers and trays

Everything needed

Steps

Step 1

 Before Reno

We cemented garden edge posts, post stirrups and preformed steps!  Erected posts, bearers and joists!

We pre stained timber and fixed the decking timber then stained the completed deck with

Cabot’s stain!

Step 2

Step 3

The next step was the tropical garden.  Garden edge timber and posts, then garden soil.  A big arrangement of tropical plants and to keep them healthy a watering system from Bunnings.  Safety fencing added!

Sandstone pavers surrounded by black pebbles added the finishing touch!

Privacy by extending the fence was also added and privacy for the spa!

Barbecue tables built, a gazebo erected and spa set up to enjoy!  A complete entertainment area all thanks to Bunnings!

Re: Deck and tropical garden makeover

Hi @Christine13,

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community, it is fantastic to have you with us.

With the fence extensions, the fantastic tropical plants and your magnificent deck, you've created what looks like an incredibly tranquil oasis to kick back.

Then you add the spa into the mix, and you have yourself a relaxation haven.

Congratulations, I hope you are enjoying the fruits of your labour.

Re: Tropical Retreat

What an incredible transformation, @Christine13! You’ve turned a small and unsafe deck into a stunning tropical retreat that feels like a holiday at home. The combination of the new deck, steps, privacy screens, and lush garden, topped off with the gazebo and spa, has completely changed the space. It looks like a huge effort, but the result is beautiful and inviting; a true resort-style escape.

Many thanks for sharing.
