Grout or silicon end of outdoor tiling?

Hi

I have blue line and yellow line.

I am getting mixed opinion. I don't know whether I should grout or silicone in blue area.

Yellow I know it is silicone.

I have attached pictures.

Thank you

Paula

Re: tiling

Hi @paula24,

You should silicone both the yellow and blue.

Any time you are transitioning between different materials, such as tile and concrete, you should use a flexible sealant rather than a rigid one because they will not expand and contract in the same way.

If you were to grout the blue lines, it would crack due to the different expansion rates.

Dunlop has a range of coloured silicones to match common grout colours. These would be suitable for this application.

Let me know if you have any further questions.

Re: tiling

Thank you.

Tiler is saying grout.

Its frustrating to have these conversation with someone who should know what to do.

Thank you

Paula
