How can I soundproof a room?

Hi there.

I have a shop and my back door backs onto a lane way with a carpark, there is a few metres between but the sounds can be very intense and loud especially idling cars and trucks.

is there a way I can soundproof or at least minimise the amount of noise? The building is quite old and is full brick and I am leasing so I can’t do much to the structure. Was hoping I could some how cover the door with something to block the noise?

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community. It's wonderful to have you join us, and thank you for sharing your question about sound proofing a room.

In order for our members to get a better understanding of the area, would it be possible for you to post few photos of the door and room in question. Once we see the door, we should be able to offer some recommendations on how to add soundproofing or at the very least find a way to reduce the sound coming in.

If you need a hand posting the photos, please let me know.

I soundproofed rooms in my house.

I found acoustic board on Marketplace (was used in an old telstra call center), I screwed that onto the wall, and then screwed VJ paneling on top.

You can also buy acoustic plasterboard from Bunnings, just pack the wall with insulation.
