I'm looking for a simple & affordable cover for my roof to fence area. Small area of 3.1m x 1.7m. I want it retractable. Not too heavy, with quick release clips on fence side so that I can roll it up on high winds & heavy rain. Currently I have a green shade cloth there which isn't waterproof. I'd like a full waterproof cover. Roof side is steel. Suggestions please 😊🙏
Hi MitchellMC,
How would you go about attaching the shade cloth?
To what?
With what?
How would I put it together?
I'd like shade cloth to go from my fascia area to fence. Fascia area is only 7cm from gutter to bottom.

Hello @Giving_It_a_Go
Careful consideration must be given as to where and how the shade cloth will be installed. Unlike ordinary shade cloth this has a waterproof lining which catch the full force of any wind coming through. I don't think the 7cm of roof fascia will be enough to hold the force that will be generated by the shade cloth. I propose anchoring into the masonry wall of your house and putting two posts at the other end to hold the other end of the shade cloth.
In regards to the type of fixings, I suggest using the Ramset 750ml ChemSet 101 Masonry Anchoring Adhesive Cartridge in conjunction with the Shade Sail Accessory Marquee 11pc Fastener Kit Galv 496289.
If you need further assistance, please let us know.

Hi EricL,
Yeah, I've been told before that the Fascia is not strong enough. The way my building is, you can't put it on the wall. I think I might have to reconsider. If I'm forced to put in posts I might as well just go for a Absco Patio Structure.
Thanks anyway everyone 🙏
You could use the shadegrip V-grip system
Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community @VikkiP. It's terrific to have you join us, and many thanks for jumping into the discussion.
The Shadegrip system would be an excellent choice for fixing the edge of shadecloth to a surface, and I trust @Giving_It_a_Go and any other readers of this discussion will appreciate your input.
We look forward to hearing all about your projects and plans around the house and garden. Feel free to reach out anytime you need assistance or have something to share with the community.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
