How to adjust colour tone of tiles?

we have just completed a repair of a section of our outdoor tiled patio. We didn’t have enough old tiles so had to buy new tiles that matched old tiles as close as possible. Unfortunately, the colour of new tiles is not exactly the same as old tiles and under different light conditions you can see the difference.

Both tiles are 600x600 outdoor porcelain tiles with a grip finish. Their pattern is meant to imitate travertine. The old tile has a bit more whitish/cooler finish while the new tile has a more beige/warmer finish. Is there some kind of sealer that I could use to treat the tiles to make their colour look closer to each other?

Sealers for porcelain tiles are typically clear and designed specifically not to alter the appearance of the tile. Their main purpose is to protect against stains, moisture, or surface wear, especially on outdoor tiles, but they aren’t intended to change or blend colour tones. Given this, a sealer alone is unlikely to make the colour variation between the old and new tiles any less noticeable.

In your case, because the difference in tone seems to be a cool versus warm hue—white-grey versus beige—it’s more of a pigmentation issue than anything a topical treatment can easily disguise. Even under the same light, these subtle shifts in base tone will still show up, especially with patterned tiles like travertine-look porcelain.

If the mismatch is bothering you, you might consider softening the contrast with rugs, outdoor furniture, or potted plants placed strategically across the transition zone to draw attention away from the tonal change. Over time, UV exposure and general weathering might also help the newer tiles blend in more naturally.
