I want to create a playpen for my cat in a 2mx2mx3m outdoor enclosure, incorporating things like shelving (for the cat to climb or sleep on, rope ladders, etc, but I don't know where to start, what I need, or where to even attach those things so that they are secure.
Any inspiration, ideas, suggestions and advice on how to make this happen would be greatly appreciated.
Hello @OscarAC
Thanks for sharing your question about building a cat playpen. Think of it like building free standing shelves where they are connected to one another to provide a walkway for the cats to explore. You can integrate gaps where they will need to jump over and across or place a PVC post wrapped in jute or sisal twine in order for them to take short cuts. You can place strategic cosy spots or resting spots for them to lounge around. You can also build a privacy box where they can rest in secret away from the other cats.
The shelves can be built supporting each other so that you won't have to anchor it to the main cage of the cats. I propose doing a sketch first so that you can estimate how big a play area you want to build. Just remember to provide enough space for cats to walk in both directions and to provide an adequate turning bay at the ends.

Good Evening @OscarAC
My first thought went straight to a reuse of a kids swingset as a frame for making up a catio fun house
It provides a ridgid rame so a doorway (short) can be incorporated into it, has height and a resonable amount of space for climbing levels.
That plan you have in your question dosnt show what type/size of gal metal poles its using, I like the swingset as I know it can carry a few kids weight
A trampoline would also work well, even just a low one, or if the safety poles are around one still you could remove the jumping mat and then net the lot with cat proof netting.
