How to build this fence panel?

I am building a fence (with a gate) at my property going from my garage (left) to the house (right). I threw my dimensions and ideas into AI and it spat me out with this image (below). I have a good understanding of how to build the frame of the fence, but unsure what my best option is for the paneling in the middle. This fence is a short term solution before we renovate and build in this area, so we are more so looking for an affordable option that keeps our children and dogs secure in our back yard (with no ability to see through the fence).

Thanks so much!

Re: How to build this fence panel?

I probably wasn't super clear with my initial information. The fence will likely be there for about 2-3 years and I am planning on ripping up some of the pavers to ensure I can dig and concrete my posts in 600-800mm deep into the ground. I appreciate the information though! We need something that is not see through, so unfortunately pool fencing won't work.

Re: How to build this fence panel?

Pool fencing would like be you best best @haveacrack92. As Jacob suggested, adding bamboo screening to it would resolve being able to see through it.

Hi @haveacrack92,

You could use Fluteboard.

Cheers

Re: How to build this fence panel?

So, a big change of plans.

Looks like we are going for something a bit more 'finished product/long term' and going to use Ekodeck 219 x 26mm 3.6m Lighthouse Batten Screen Castellated Panel - Bunnings Australia for the fence and the gate.

I have seen these options mentioned for the gate, any pros/cons on which one to use?
RapidFence 1200 x 1870mm Grey Adjustable Steel Gate Frame Kit - Bunnings Australia
Pfeiffer 18000 x 600 - 1000mm Adjusta Gate - Bunnings Australia

Lastly, I understand fixing the castellated panels to the frame and the gate frame. But any recommendations on which gate handle to use? Something with a handle would be more ideal than just a latch.

Thanks again for all your advice/support. I appreciate it a lot.

Re: How to build this fence panel?

Hi @haveacrack92,

Either option for the gate frame would be fine. The main difference is the angled braces on the Pfeiffer 18000 x 600 - 1000mm Adjusta Gate, which help to support the weight with heavier materials, not that yours are overly heavy, but it is worth noting.

You should also note that, according to the Ekodeck Castellated Panel Product Manual, they can have a maximum unsupported overhang of 300mm, so if you had this at both the top and bottom, the maximum height your gate could be is 2400mm.

For the handle, you can use this D&D Technologies LokkLatch Magnetic Gate Lock. Further details, including a video on the installation process, can be found here - LokkLatch® MAGNETIC - D&D Technologies AU.

Let me know what you think, and if you have further questions, please don't hesitate to ask.

Jacob
