I am building a timber lap and cap fence and plan on using galvanised posts.
Just looking for some advice on the best way to attach the fence rails to the galvanised posts - any advice greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Hello @smithn047
Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community. It's sensational to have you join us, and thanks for sharing your question about your fence.
If it is a large galvanized post, I propose using a nut and bolt configuration going through the rail and post for a very secure hold. There is also the option of a saddle bracket, but you'll need to speak to the special orders team for bracket sizes.
Let me call on our experienced members @Dave-1 @Nailbag and @DIY4Knuckleheds for their recommendations.
If you have any other questions we can help with, please let us know.

G'day smithn047 for a simple solution l would simply bolt the rail to the post using galvanised fixings. Once l had drilled the holes through the post and rail l'd spray the freshly drilled holes with some Cold Dipped Galvanised paint to stop the rust. 👍
Good morning @smithn047
I would use some gal bolts and nuts plus brackets. Even if your posts are wide enough I still like the idea of brackets to give more support to the rails.
