There used to be a tree sitting under the colorbond fence and now that it's finally rotted and removed, I need to fill the gap so dirt from the neighbours yard (higher side) won't come through to ours on rainy days and that a future pet won't be able to sneak out.
I've seen other posts suggested sleepers but the gaps looked a little smaller.
Any suggestions on what could work for this scenario?
We have considered gardening beds for this area too so not sure if I do that now as a bit of a 2 for 1 solution jr just plug up in a cost effective manner.
Cheers
David
Hi @davidb0312,
Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community, it is fantastic to have you with us.
Is there a reason you wouldn't use sleepers? They appear to be the best option based on what I can see.
You would just need to dig out or backfill a bit, so they sit on consistent ground, then set them in place using some Heavy Duty Steel Sleeper Pegs. They are strong and resistant to rot, so they would be perfect for this application.
Alternatively, you could use some retaining blocks to cover the gap and prevent soil from eroding beneath the fence.
Either option would work if you were considering garden beds.
Allow me to tag @Dave-1 to see if he has any ideas.

Thanks Jacob. Happy to do sleepers if that is the easiest way. I was wondering how it would work if I needed more height e.g. needed to sleepers stacked to cover the gap?
Hi @davidb0312,
It would likely be easier to just add soil to bring the ground level up a bit. This would mean you don't have to stack the sleepers, but if you had to, you could also use retaining posts of a suitable length for the number of sleepers. For two sleepers high, you would use 750mm posts so you can concrete in 350mm and have 400mm above ground for your sleepers to sit in.
Let me know what you think.

Good Evening @davidb0312
I would go for the sleepers for sure
Easiest and probarly the most cost effective solution. Once you have them in then you could always do the garden later. Whichever way you need that backing to stop the soil movement and the sleepers will last for ages.
