Purchased a new hose and regulator Gasmate brand for my BBQ and brought it home to put in my gas bottle.
Realised it was not securely tightening onto my old style gas bottle.
Went back to Bunnings and team member said we have an old gas bottle and they’ve updated the fitting. So swapped it over and now I’m trying to put the hose into the gas bottle fitting but it’s hard to get my hand around the black nozzle to turn it tight.
it can’t be this hard can it?
It feels like I am not able to fully tighten the hose into the gas bottle because it seems to release when I use minimal effort to turn it the other way.

Hi @BFraser,
Is the photo you have taken of the new gas bottle or the old one?
If it is the new one, then there may have been some miscommunication, because it is not one of the new bottles. The new bottles are fitted with an LCC27 valve, which is compatible with your new hose. They have a black tap handle and an external thread. The bottle shown in this image has an older style POL fitting, which is not compatible with new hoses.
I'd suggest returning to the store with your receipt, explaining the issue and having them replace your bottle with a new one. Make sure it has an external thread and a black tap handle.
If there are any issues, please let me know so I can assist further.

Thank you. Swapped it for the correct newer style bottle and works perfectly. I was persisting with it as I thought this was the new version and thought it was a silly design, but all good now.
