Hello folks
Has anyone successfully connected a BBQ with this hose fitting above to a natural gas outlet like the one below (bottom pic looks up into the outlet)? It seems that the male fitting is too long because of the brass pin in the centre.
Is there an adapter I could purchase to make the two go together?
Thanks in advance!
Joss
Hi @JossB,
Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community, it is fantastic to have you with us.
The bayonet fitting on your hose, like the one on this Gasmate Braided Hose - 2000mm - Bayonet to 5/8" UNF (3/8" SAE), should be compatible with that outlet, which is a Female Connection Bayonet Inlet Fitting.
Are you lining up the notches in the hose -

with the little tabs on the fitting?

You insert the hose so that the slots line up with these tabs, then rotate it so the tabs sit in the opening beside the slots.
The brass pin in the centre of the hose needs to push against the back of the female fitting for the gas to be let out.
I'm about 99% certain you have everything you need here for this to work. If you have trouble, there are videos on "How to connect an Australian Gas Bayonet Fitting" that you can check out.
Let me know if you have any trouble or if you have further questions.
