How to correctly use the pressure washer?

This is a stupid question but we just need to ask..
we have read the manual but still have no clue:

So we tried to run water through the washer,

but when we switch on the garden tap,

should we at the same time turn on 1) the power of washer + 2) squeeze spray wand trigger to bleed water pressure ?

If we dont squeeze the trigger, when too much water goes into the washer, wont the pressure burst the water pipes of our house ?

We were not sure what we did, we just heard a loud humming noise when we run the water through the machine..

And we used the garden hose which is not the right size too (that we need to remove the filter)

You'll need to pick yourself up a standard garden hose. It will include all the connections for the tap and machine.

Screw the included universal tap connector onto your tap, allowing you to click your hose on. The universal connector fits two different-sized taps, so if it doesn't immediately screw onto your tap, remove the smaller insert to reveal the larger size screw.

Once your hose is connected to the tap, turn it on and run water through the hose, then turn it off. Next, click the other end of the hose onto the machine's inlet port. This would be where the filter you had previously removed was. Turn the water on at the tap and wait a few seconds. In the meantime, ensure the high-pressure hose is connected securely to the front of the machine and has the spray gun and lance attached.

Turn your powerpoint on that the extension cord is plugged into. With the machine itself still switched off, hold the spray gun's trigger until you see water coming out of the tip. The machine is now primed; you can release the trigger and turn the unit's power switch on. This will engage the motor, and you will be able to begin spraying.

At no time will high pressure from the machine damage the pipes in your house. The high pressure is only made after the water goes past the motor. The loud hum you heard was likey air purging from the system, or you switched the machine on at its power switch, and the noise you heard was the motor running.

@MitchellMc we tried and could click the filter onto one end of hose,

but the manual says the hose cannot be longer than 8m and we checked, all hoses in bunnings are at least 15meters long, would that still work?

Hi @ivanptr,

If you purchase the hose in your picture, you can cut it down to eight metres in length and re-attach the fitting provided with the hose. They unscrew off the hose. Just unscrew the lower grey section whilst holding the orange section.

I can't imagine why a 15m hose would not work, but I'd suggest sticking to what the machine manufacturer recommends.

Hi can you please help I followed the instructions exactly but it sounds like the motor is starting up and then there is squeal sound that ebbs away and then nothing. I turn it off then worried I will break it. Why? What is happening? I tried it twice with the exact instructions but it still doing the same thing. I've only used this machine the one time, this would be my second.

Thank you for your question and welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community, it is great to have you with us.

The cause of the squealing could be a number of things such as pump cavitation which is a phenomenon that occurs when the water supply to a pump is insufficient. The squealing could potentially be solved by increasing the flow of water to the pressure washer. Check for kinks in the hose, if there are none, increase the flow of water through the tap.

Another potential cause of the squealing is air trapped in the system. Fixing this would involve bleeding the system by running the pressure washer without the spray tip until a steady stream of water flows through the nozzle.

You should start by trying these two things. If you find the issue persists, there may be an issue with the machine that would likely be covered by the warranty.

Thank you, I will give that a shot next time. I noticed when I used it that it did the sqeal and then I pushed the trigger and the water came out. It kept squealing when ever I let it go again but kept working. I will implement your tips. It says a 8m hose but how on earth would you do your backyard with that!!

Hi @Michelle,

I have used 12mm garden hose connector for this, however, the water comes out on the sides of the connector. It clicks in fine to the hose adaptor that was provided by Ozito, it seems like it's not the right fit for it. I have the same issue, turned on the ozito high pressure washer, nothing happens. At first, it makes a sound of the machine running, then when the connector falls out, I have turned the machine off and tried it again after putting the hose connector back on, turned the machine on, no noise this time round. I still couldn't get it to work. I have the setup the same as in the picture like this guy, the garden hose is connected to the back of the unit

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community @deniselai28. It's terrific to have you join us, and many thanks for your question about Ozito pressure washers.

Water should never come out of the sides of a connector. If there is an issue with the connection it should come out between it and what it's being connected onto. Does the connector work fine on say your garden hose nozzle? It would be good to work out first whether there is an issue with your connector. If we can confirm it is fine that would lead us in the right direction.

12mm garden hose connectors are standardised, so any brand should suit the provided connector on your pressure washer. Ensure when you are connecting to the machine, you pull back on the fittings release mechanism, push the connector onto the machine firmly then let go of the release mechanism. There can be a first and second click, the first engages but doesn't seal (leading to leaks) and the second connects and seals.

However, it sounds like you have multiple issues here, the first being the connector not engaging properly and the second that the machine is not functioning as it should.

The method for start-up should be: connect your hose and turn the water on, wait a moment for the machine to fill with water, whilst holding the lance turn the machine power on with the red switch (which should start the motor), then pull the trigger to start spraying.

If your hose is connected and when turning the red switch and pulling the trigger, the motor does not start up then I'd recommend returning it to the store of purchase so our team can assess it under warranty.

I will test out the hose connector after work, though I bought it brand new from Bunnings, doesn't look like it should be a problem, but you never know.

I will also give this a try 'you pull back on the fittings release mechanism, push the connector onto the machine firmly then let go of the release mechanism'. I have noticed that when I have tried to pull the trigger, the trigger doesn't seem like it wants to move, is there a locking mode on this spray gun? I used to use Karcher K3 before, I don't have these sort of issues until after 5 years, my Karcher started leaking where the hose connects to the machine, so I have decided to buy a new one that is cheaper.

You should be able to pull the trigger with no issues. My best advice is to make sure that water is flowing into the hose and into your machine before turning it on.

Hi Mitchell,

Thanks for your help, I took it back to Bunnings and have asked someone to show me what was wrong with it. It's the fact that I didn't push the hose connector strong enough, so water doesn't flow through properly. I didn't realise that I need to pull back the hose connector and snap it in with a strong push in order for it to secure and locked in. It's now all working as expected.

Thanks for your reply. There is a locking mechanism that is on the bottom of the trigger actually and that locks it. After unlocking it, I was able to easily pull the trigger.
