How to cover steel posts in alfresco area?

Hi, Our alfresco area is supported by two SHS steel posts (120mm x 120mm x 5mm). We were wondering what the best way would be to cover these up? They are currently painted but looking at something such as a cladding/render/timber look. Is this possible? Any help would be great! Thank you.

Hello @xaykao

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community. It's sensational to have you join us, and thanks for sharing your question about covering your steel posts.

In order to give our members a better idea of the post's layout, would it be possible for you to post a few photos of the area? Once we have an idea of what it looks like, we can then make recommendations on how to proceed.

I also suggest having a look at this featured project - Hamptons-style veranda posts by @emmajames. It's an excellent example of how you can cover and modify the look of your post's.

If you need a hand posting the photos, please let me know.

Re: How to cover steel posts in alfresco area?

Hi, did you manage to find a solution? I had a 75x75 steel post on my patio in a high-set house, and I clad it in Merbau. It took a bit of time, but it was worth it. Let me know if you want some photos.

Hi @Termite,

A warm welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community, it is fantastic to have you with us.

Allow me to tag @xaykao so they are notified of your kind offer. Xaykao may be able to do the same with some 140 x 19mm SpecRite Merbau Pre-Oiled Decking.

I always love seeing a variety of different solutions to problems, so just for my own curiosity, could you upload some photos of what you've done?

Thank you for your willingness to share your experiences.

Jacob
