Hi All
thanks for all your great responses to my qs before
We are updating our verandah and taken down the front trellis/fretwork that has left a thin gap along the underneath cement sheeting (where it was fixed). Hubby said the fretwork helped to keep the sheeting up as well?
What can we fill this with?
Hi @JB58,
A warm welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community and thank you for your question.
To cover the gaps, I would suggest using Brutus 4.5 - 6mm x 2.4m Building Moulding Joiners. They can be cut to size with some scissors or aviation snips and then simply slipped over the fibre cement sheets. I can't see fixings on the edge of the boards, so there should be a bit of flex that you can use to slip them into place.
While the timber that has been removed would have had nails or screws going through it which would help hold up the fibre cement sheeting, I would be surprised if there weren't fixings used to hold the sheet up before the fretwork was attached.
Is there a fair bit of movement in the sheet around those joins? Enough that it would be concerning?
If so, then the sheets should be fixed back to the timber frame beneath using clouts or fibre cement screws.
Let me know what you think and if you have further questions, please don't hesitate to ask.
