How to fill screw holes on a Merbau deck?

Hi. I recently had a merbau deck installed. Unfortunately the tradesman was a bit rough and ready and left me with a large number of additional screw holes that he drilled in the wrong place. I need to fill them before oiling the deck but as they’re so deep and there’s so many, would like advice as to how best to do this and what oil or stain would be best to minimise the look of whatever filler is recommended

The easiest would be to use a Merbau wood filler, its not perfect but once sanded down should give a reasonable result.

Alternatively, purchase a plug cutter, cut plugs from spare piece of merbau, re drill the hole to the size of the plug and glue it in.

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community, it is wonderful to have you with us and thank you for your question.

@PeterB1 has already given fantastic advice and either of these options will work. I'd suggest following his advice to use one of two option provided.

Merbau tinted wood filler such as this Earl's Merbau MulTfill Ready To Use Filler or this Intergrain Jarrah / Merbau Woodblend Putty are great options that can be applied with a plastic scraper and lightly sanded once dry.

You can also use a plug cutter with some scrap Merbau to create plugs that can then be glued in place and sanded flush.
