Can below item of size (10mm & 20mm in dia) available in bunnings for closing the hole in metal post. The surface has to be thin. If thick, there will be problem in closing the gate.

I suggest going to the hardware section of the store and proceeding to the chair tip section. From there you should be able to see multiple types of covers in 10mm or 20mm sizes. If you want something more robust, I recommend going to the plumbing department and looking at the PVC caps. These also come in various sizes and could possibly fit the hole of your gate.
Before proceeding to the store, I suggest getting a piece of paper and making a pencil shading of the hole so that you know exactly what size you're after. It will be a lot easier than buying several pieces and having none of them fit your needs.
