How to fix Ozito 18v mower that conked out?

Please can you help me diagnose the fault with my Ozito 18v brushless mower? Purchased in 2019 so just out of warranty, it's been totally reliable up to this point. Halfway through mowing my lawn yesterday I stopped to clear some debris and when I went to restart the power it wouldn't go. I only get this beeping noise which I'm guessing is indicative of some particular fault.

I don't think it's a battery issue as I tried different batteries, perhaps it could be a dirty terminal connection?

I have a short video clip so you can hear the noise but an MP4 file can't be uploaded here.

Please help if you can.

I'm sorry to hear that your Ozito mower has suddenly stopped working, it’s always stressful when something reliable starts playing up, especially just out of warranty. Since you’ve already ruled out the battery by trying different ones, the beeping you're hearing could point to a few other potential issues. A dirty or corroded battery terminal is definitely worth checking, as even a small amount of grime or oxidation can interfere with the power connection. Try giving the terminals on both the mower and battery a gentle clean with a dry cloth or a contact cleaner that's safe for electronicsWD-40 290g Specialist Fast Drying Contact Cleaner, which you can find at Bunnings, is a good option.

If that doesn’t help, the next thing to inspect is the power switch and wiring—sometimes a loose internal connection or wear on the switch itself can cause a fault like this. It’s also possible the mower’s motor controller has detected an overload or short circuit, especially if there was debris involved. Make sure the underside of the mower is clear and that nothing is caught around the blade shaft. Overheating can also trip the safety cutout in brushless models, and in some cases, the mower may beep continuously if it hasn’t fully cooled down or reset properly.

If everything looks clean and connected but the beeping continues, you might be dealing with a motor or control board fault, which unfortunately isn’t something easily fixed without parts. I’d suggest giving Ozito’s customer support a call on 1800 069 486 they’re generally pretty helpful, even for out-of-warranty issues, and may be able to walk you through a more detailed diagnostic or offer a cost-effective repair solution.

I have posted here about cordless garden tools that suddenly stop working.

I suspect one of the motor connections has come adrift due to vibration.

Mower needs to be dismantled to the point where the motor is able to be inspected.

Here is a XU1 grass trimmer in the workshop.

Common denominator for these garden tools is often vibration failure.
