Hi all, I have a yard that unfortunately gathers a lot of water after rain. It just sits - doesn’t help one side of house doesn’t get much sun so ground becomes very soggy. Don’t really know where to start, have attached photos in the hope someone could please guide me.
Also want to create a one foot barrier around the house with stones to avoid any nasties. Have sprayed the grass but not sure of next step.
Any help appreciated, Sue
Hello @suehalley
Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community. It's sensational to have you join us, and thanks for sharing your question about your backyard.
I propose installing a French drain in that location so that it will divert the water into your storm water drain and prevent water from puddling in that area. I suggest having a look at this discussion - How to build a French drain? by @Glorz. In regards to the barrier, can you please give us a bit more information on what kind of stones you had in mind. How wide a barrier were you thinking of and what kind of nasties were you planning to keep out. For a general insect barrier, I suggest spraying Yates 2L Home Pest Long Term Control Barrier Spray.
Please remember to wear personal protection such as gloves, goggles and a mask when spraying around the house.
If you have any other questions we can help with, please let us know.
