why is my pad lock not opening my electric gate must use remote control
Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community @jane9. It's wonderful to have you join us, and many thanks for your question about gate openers.
If your remote is working, that’s actually a good sign. It means the gate motor is powered, operational, and receiving the signal correctly from your transmitter. If the padlock or keypad isn’t opening the gate, it’s likely that the issue lies with the padlock mechanism itself or the connection between it and the motor receiver.
Start by inspecting the padlock closely. Look for any signs of corrosion, moisture, or dirt buildup that might have affected the internal components. If water has entered the lock or the electronics inside it, that could easily stop it from functioning properly.
If everything looks fine externally, your next step would be to contact the manufacturer of the gate system for troubleshooting guidance. They can usually help identify whether it’s a mechanical or electrical fault. Alternatively, having a licensed electrician inspect the setup would be a good idea, as they can test the circuit and determine exactly where the issue lies.
If this were one of our gate openers, and you could provide details, I could then contact the manufacturer to get their thoughts.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
