How to fix eroded brick mortar?

High there,

I have a few spots on my back storeroom where the mortar is eroding away between the bricks.

Does bunnings have tubes of mortar or similar to suit outdoor facing the ocean or do I have to do it the old fashioned way?

Picture attached.

Thankyou

Craig

Re: Brick Mortar

That's some fairly consistent wear on the mortar @Chicksy. Has it worn away, or was it originally set quite deep and recessed from the brick face?

There are products like Mortafil, but those are typically used for small repair jobs. It acts like mortar back is actually a flexible filler. For larger areas, you'd be better off using a mortar and coloured oxide.

If the remaining mortar is quite soft and degraded, you might need to have the wall assessed to determine whether it has become structurally compromised. Stabilisation of the existing mortar could be required before filling over it.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Re: Brick Mortar

Hi Mitchell,

Thanks for the reply.

The original mortar is flush with the brick work,

I might get a bricky around to have a look.

Thanks for the help

Craig
