A little bit devastated.
I recently had a spotted gum deck completed and had someone come and oil it for me looked amazing but I needed an umbrella.
The umbrella was secured with pavers which I was never that keen on but thought it would be okay however having lifted the pavers to store the umbrella for winter. I’ve discovered that the deck is badly marked. I’ve cleaned with soap and water but these are the marks that remain. I am wondering what I can do to get the colour to return to the original spotted gum if I sanded and use the same oil will that work or do I need one with the colour in it to try to match the deck ? I’m so upset I made this mistake. This is all very new to me.
Hello @PennyH
I'm sorry to hear that part of your deck got missed in the revamp. I can understand you are stressed in regards to the finish, but not to worry, you can still sand the missed surface area and oil over that portion in the same colour. However, please note that the overlapping sections of the oiled surface may be visible, but at least it will be similar to the current colour of your deck. As the seasons pass it should blend in and become one with the deck finish.
