How to fix retaining wall?

Hi everyone,

I’m not sure where to start with fixing a timber retaining wall segment that has dislodged - please see picture. Would appreciate any advice.

Re: How to fix retaining wall?

Hi @CharlesK,

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community, it is fantastic to have you with us.

The timber at the front of the picture appears to be the post that is actually holding up the retaining wall. Luckily, it looks to be solid, secure and plumb, so the repair would just involve reattaching the piece on the left, which is more or less just a filler piece.

You'll have to start by removing any material from behind it that impedes it from sitting back in place. Once this is cleared, push it back in place so that it is in line with the post.

Once it is back in position, you can screw it back in place using 3 x Bremick XTP 18g x 150 T40 Technoguard EA Landscape Screws in the locations marked below.

After this, I also drive another 3 of these screws in roughly the same location through the post here.

These additional screws will help to hold the filler piece in place better than it was previously.

You can use a Sutton Tools 6.0mm Long Series Jobber Drill Bit to drill some pilot holes for these new screws.

Let me know what you think and if you have further questions, please don't hesitate to ask.

Jacob

Brilliant - thanks Jacob … I wasn’t confident removing what’s behind it without someone who knows much more than me confirming that.  Appreciate your advice and guidance 👍.
