How to improve rendered brick wall?

Hi community,

total newbie when it comes to this kind of thing.
We recently purchased a house that has a brick wall outside (approx 10m long). Problem is, it’s been covered with some sort of render/concrete that obviously isn’t aging very well. There’s chunks missing and it’s discoloured.

I’d love to refresh it by either sanding it back and/or painting it. I’d love some advice of how to tackle this! Picture attached is after pressure washing.

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community. It's sensational to have you join us, and thanks for sharing your question about your outdoor wall.

I propose washing the wall with 30 Seconds 5L Outdoor Cleaner Concentrate. Please note that this is a concentrate and must be diluted before use. I suggest using a Silvan 5L ECO Hand Sprayer in combination with an Oates Long Handle Deck Scrub Brush. I suggest using your power washer to rinse the wall. This will remove the mould and mildew on the surface of the wall.

I then suggest washing the wall with detergent and water while using the scrub brush. This will remove any grease and oil deposits that may have landed on the surface of the wall. Once it is totally dry you can begin painting the surface with your choice of primer and a standard exterior paint such as Dulux Weathersheild, Taubman's Sunproof and British Paints 4 Seasons. There is no need to sand the surface of the wall as it has a very rough exterior.
