Greetings
i have an area between the house and the fence which is approx 10x6m and has a clay base. I have a drain located near one end of the area. The water does not run away at present and pools in the middle of the area.
I intend to lay road base to slope 1-2cm fall away from the house and also from the fence thus creating a shallow V in the area running down to the drain. (The fence side sits on top of a small retained wall with no drainage behind it)
I was thinking of running so AGI piping down the middle of the shallow V just below the road base as rocks will be placed on top of road base. The agi pipe would then link into the drain.
is this a worth while effort? I am just concerned that even with the road base, the water will not move away and still pool.
thanks for assistance.
Hello @dweller
I believe the road base will help, but if the rain becomes too strong it will not be enough to divert the excess water away. I propose installing a French drain instead as any water on the surface will be absorbed by the drain and directed towards your storm water drain. Just a friendly reminder that linking to your storm water drain will require the services of a plumber as it needs to be done safely and to code.
If you need further assistance, please let us know.
