Hi,
I am looking to install James Hardie 4200 x 150mm 16mm Linea fibre cement weatherboards. Can you please advise me on the appropriate cordless gun and nails I will require?
Regards,
Johnny
Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community, @JohnnyPC. It's wonderful to have you join us, and many thanks for your question about Linea weatherboards.
Here's the installation guide for them, and within it, you'll find the fixing options. The nails required differ depending on your chosen installation technique. If you can let us know more details on whether the boards will be fixed directly to studs, batons over studs, or batons over masonry, it will help us provide more info. Typically, if you are installing directly onto studs with batons, you'd use a 65 x 2.87 Galvanised Ring Shank Nail. Those nails can be fired through a gas framing gun. We also hire framing guns, which could be a good option.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
Mitchell
Hi MitchellMC
I will be nailing the boards directly into studs.
Thanks,
Johnny
Then that would be the timber frame option in the installation guide @JohnnyPC. So, the Paslode 40 x 2.8mm 2kg Galvanised Fibre Cement Nails for concealed fixings.
Mitchell
Thanks Mitchell
Do these nails fit into the Paslode framing gun?
No, they don't @JohnnyPC. The installation guide doesn't actually provide an option for gun nailing and the direct fix method. However, I've just spoken to Hardies and they've recommended the Paslode 50 x 2.87mm Amor Galvanised Dekfast Impulse Nails.

Hi Mitchell,
As per my initial request, can you please advise me on the appropriate cordless gun and nails I will require to do the job?
Thanks,
John
If you'd like to purchase a gun, it would be the Paslode Cordless Lithium-Ion Impulse FrameMaster PowerVent Nail Gun @JohnnyPC. However, as mentioned, we do hire nail guns if you just need it for this job. The Paslode 50 x 2.87mm Amor Galvanised Dekfast Impulse Nails will work in those guns.
