Hi team,
I'm planning to install Ekodeck Castellated Panels around my brick letterbox. I'm very new to this. How do I go about installing it around the letterbox? I think I need some treated pine to create a frame around the brickwork before installing the panels. Is there any other option that might reduce the extra width? I'm currently looking at about 61mm thick (timber + panel) around the brickwork. Any suggestions will be highly appreciated. Below is the plan.
Thank you
Hi @esumon21,
Here are the installation instructions for Ekodeck Castellated Panels.
Using 35mm timber is really the minimum you should fix above a solid surface. Ekodeck is a composite material and can deteriorate if fixed too closely to a substrate; your 35mm will allow airflow beneath it.
Given the panels need to be fixed every 600mm, I suspect creating three mounting points would be the easiest solution. I've created the rendering below to illustrate. These frames can be mounted in position with countersunk Dynabolts.
Please let me know if you have any questions.

Hi Mitchell, thanks for the illustrations. It helps. The length of the brick wall is about 1550mm. How many dynabolts on each timber would you suggest. I live in Perth, WA where it can get very windy at times. Also for the castellated panels, what screws would you suggest? Thanks
Hello @esumon21
I propose using a minimum of five Dynabolts with a gap of 300mm per bolt. I recommend using Zenith 8 - 10 x 50mm Galvanised Countersunk Rib Head Timber Screws to anchor the panel to the timber frame. Should you decide to use a different type of screw, please make sure that they are rated for outdoor use.
If you need further assistance, please let us know.

Hi, thanks for the suggestion. The brick wall is made of masonary bricks that has hollow holes inside. Dynabolts doesn't feel like the right one to use. Do you have any other recommendations?
Hi @esumon21,
Dynabolts and Ankascrews are recommended by Ramset for use with hollow bricks. You could add some Ramset 300ml Chemset UltraFix Plus to chemically adhere the fixings into place as well.
