How to install garden edging under the fence?

I plan to use Jack 300mm x 8m Garden Edging - Bunnings Australia to block the bottom gap, but I am unsure how to install it. Do I need to screw it to the fence pailings? If yes, can you recommend what screw should I use and the interval between screws? Thanks.

Take note that the thickness of the pailings varies but is around 16mm on average.

Hi, for screws I'd go for something like an 8G 15mm button head screw as per my screenshot.The bigger head will help stop the screw pulling through the edging if something pushes against it. Around 3 or 4 palings apart or even closer if you're trying to keep a Houdini dog in.

Thanks for sharing your questions about how to anchor your garden edging to your fence. The suggestion made by Poppop is excellent. The Zenith 8G x 15mm Galvanised Button Head Stitching Timber Screws is galvanized and has a flat head which is great when holding the garden edging material. I propose an interval space of 300mm to maximize the use of the screws.

Only thing I can add to the great suggestions already is to dig out underneath the fence to insatll the shield. And maybe if you wanted to you could install a horizontal piece of timber acros sthe top of the shield to give it a "skirt" feel.
