My front yard of my townhouse has black Aluminium pole fence around the perimeter. I want to add some privacy and extend the height of the fence I want to secure lattice makers timber slats 1800 x 900. . How would I secure it to my fence top third. Additionally, reviewers state it fades easily . Can I use spray paint lacquer for ease ? Thanks
Hi @cath12,
A warm welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community, it is wonderful to have you with us.
If you have some photos of the fence that you can upload, that would help our members offer their best advice. Let me know if you need a hand doing this, I am happy to help if required.
To extend the height of your fence with lattice, you will need to attach some timbers to the aluminium posts, to then attach your lattice to.
You can attach some 70x35 H3 framing pine to the posts using at least 4 x 50mm metal screws, then attach your lattice to the framing pine using galvanised timber screws of a suitable length to pass through the lattice and into the timber.
Typically, fence posts are spaced 2400mm apart, so it is likely a better option to use Lattice Makers 2400 x 900mm Treated Pine Lattice, or even this Lattice Makers 2400 x 500mm Treated Pine Lattice Fence Extension, which has mounting timbers already installed.
Let me know what you think and if you have further questions, please don't hesitate to ask.
