I have a patio, with a roof that appears to be made from a Flatdek type roof sheet. The problem is during summer it gets really hot underneath.
Is there a way i can insulated this roof without having to replace it?
Hello @dingo22 (Dan)
Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community. It's fantastic to have you join us, and thank you for sharing your question about insulating your patio roof.
Would it be possible for you to post a few photos of your patio roof? This will give our members a chance to assess its condition. We can then offer recommendations on how best to insulate it. One of the common problems with installing insulation is space. Often there is not enough space in the roof to take in insulation. Is it possible to place a timber batten frame? The timber frame serves as a support network for the insulation and prevents it from sagging.
We look forward to seeing your photos.
Thanks for the reply. Attached are a few images of the patio roof as requested. Hope this helps.
Thank you very much for posting those photos of your patio roof. One way to insulate your roof is to build a slim timber batten frame to hold the insulation in place. You also could use galvanized punched strapping as another means of support. Your current ceiling liner probably has a thin form of insulation in it. But in order to use thick ceiling insulation, you'll need something to support it.
Once you have the insulation in place you'll need to consider if you'll be cladding the frame to cover the insulation.
