How to lay paving?

Hi,

I have lots of these square concrete pavers and wanted to use them to pave near my back door (as pictured) but have absolutly no idea where to start, what to use or how to do it! Any advice would be much apprecitated. Also is there a way to 'clean them up'?

To clean those paver just use some detergent and a stiff brush will work, for the most part or a pressure washer will be the easyest .

Lay black plastic or weed mat first,

Those pavers ideally will want to sit on cement pads need you to mix some sand and cement pushing and leveling the pavers as you good using a spirit levels to see it level. Also use a tight string line streched marking the one side of the pavers at the correct desired height.

Frame the garden bed and fill it will decorative stones like in the photo

You will need more precise directions If you want to go ahead.

Your can just sit the pavers on the loose stones eventually settle in. But may rock abit short term,

It's great to see that @Jewelleryrescue has already made some helpful suggestions.

A high-pressure washer would be a quick and easy way to clean your pavers – it should help remove dirt and grime effortlessly. For a budget-friendly option, you might want to check out the Gerni 3300 1810PSI 1500W High Pressure Washer, which is great for smaller jobs like cleaning pavers.

As for laying your large pavers, start by ensuring the area where you want to lay your pavers is level. Use a compactor to make the ground firm and stable. Next, add weedmatting and then a layer of sand (around 50mm) to create a smooth surface for the pavers to sit on. You can also mix the sand with cement for better stability, especially if you’re concerned about the pavers shifting over time. Begin laying the pavers from one corner, making sure each one is level and well-aligned, using a spirit level to check as you go. Once all pavers are in place, fill the gaps between them with more sand or fine gravel to help lock them in place.
