looking for a premix concrete or grout I can use for my bbq bench top. Hoping to do it in white. I know it needs to be high strength but am really hoping there’s something I can just add water to and pour otherwise I’ll have to get some precise ratios to keep the mixes the same I guess. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks in advance.
Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community @dan1982. It's terrific to have you join us, and many thanks for your question about concrete benchtops.
There aren’t many true white concrete or structural grout mixes readily available—most products marketed as white tend to be more of an off-white or pale grey once cured. If you’re after a brighter finish, you can add white oxide to an off-white cement mix to enhance the colour, but it’s hard to achieve a pure white look without specialised products. That said, most bagged mixes—whether concrete or structural grout—just require the addition of water and don’t need any custom ratios, as long as you follow the instructions on the bag.
For a benchtop, make sure it’s well supported and includes steel reinforcement bars or mesh within the formwork. This is important to prevent cracking and ensure the concrete remains strong and rigid over time.
