Hi there,
Looking for some advice after crazy paving outdoor patio. Had a landscaper I knew through my footy team do some start some crazy paving for me. Done a poor job and was unreliable so I’ve ended up doing the second section. He left an insane amount of grout haze (was watered down grout as wouldn’t come off, only with concrete remover) and the grout has gone all sorts of different shades it really looks rubbish and I’m at a loss of what to do? None of it has been sealed yet so not sure if it’s just efflorescence? I’ve read about grout colour sealers can work? But do these peel up? I was really happy with my section I done but even after the a few days of hot sun, as soon as the rain came it came out with some discolouring. Any advice would help.
thanks.

the close ups are what this guys done.
Hi @bow2021,
Considering how good a job you've done in comparison, my suggestion would be to remove the grout from the other area and redo it yourself. Your area looks good, while the other area doesn't so much, so to match the quality of your area, the best thing you can do is redo it. There are things like grout paints and sealers that you could use, but it would never look quite the same as your section.
I'd suggest you use a grout removal tool such as this QEP Double-Sided Grout Removal Tool, or a multitool with a Grout Removal Blade to remove the grout. Once the grout has been fractured and is loose, use a vacuum to collect it and remove any remaining dust.
After removing and preparing the area, follow the same technique, using the same grout you did and you will have a much more uniform, quality finish.
Let me know what you think.
Jacob
Thanks @JacobZ I was thinking this would be the case but was living in hope there was an easier way.
when removing grout how deep would I need to go? The pavers are 20mm thick, would I need to go that deep?
Hello @bow2021
You might be able to get away with 10mm. A nice compromise so that half the grout is at least a uniform white colour on the surface.
